We spent years touring the country, meeting new people, sleeping on floors, spending hours driving in the van, and living a crazy exhausting life. Looking back on those times, I’m filled with such a nostalgia for that lifestyle.
This new song, “Strangers’ Friends”, is a reflection about what seems like another life ago— one we hope can one day exist again.
We want to thank each and every friend and fan that we met while out on tour. Especially those who took us into their homes and gave us a place to stay. This song is a reminder of the amazing community that we all build together with live music— something we’re sorely missing right now. We hope to see all you out there again sometime soon.
lyrics
Skip town on the edge of night
Leave two hearts to synchronize
without me
Step under the big bright lights
Sing something to make things right
For strangers
I know you’re waiting for something more
Every time I walk out that door
It’s in the next town
Dick pics on the green room walls
No doors on the bathroom stalls
We’re nameless
And we’re off again
Daylight is closing in
The backseat
I’m too tired to fist a fight
I’m too tired to make things right
There’s nothing to defend
They take us in
We’re strangers’ friends
And on the wind
My heartbeats start to bend
And break
I wanna live two whole lives
Never have to say goodbye
and leave you
But we take what is given us
Little something to fill my cup
Take off the edge
I’m too tired to talk right now
It’s too loud to think about
The half I’ve left
They take us in
We’re strangers’ friends
And on the wind
My heartbeats start to bend
And break
